Kala KA-S Soprano Mahogany Ukulele

Nicely made laminate Mahogany soprano ukulele from Kala, with nice binding to the body and very natural looking laminate mahogany finish. One of our best sellers for a very good reason! This might be the perfect first soprano ukulele for a teenager or adult beginner. It has very good tuning stability, good quality Aquila strings, the normal SUS setup, all of which make for a very easy to play and easy to manage ukulele. The sound it makes is sweet and strong, with decent volume and reasonably accurate intonation (ukes are always a little off, this one is no exception - the C string is slightly sharp at the 12th fret) which allows the player to address the instrument with confidence.

The Satin Mahogany line is Kala’s flagship collection and has become an industry standard. The traditional design is highlighted with a satin finish and cream binding. Built and designed to stand the test of time.

Top, Body, and Neck

The Kala KA-S Soprano Ukulele is crafted predominantly from mahogany. This tonewood influences the sound produced by the ukulele in different ways, depending on the parts it appears on. The mahogany construction of the top translates into the addition of a great deal of punch to the sound. Therefore, if you are required to play to an audience of country or blues aficionados, you know what to pick. Mahogany offers fast sound transmission and consequently contributes to overtone colouration. The full, forceful midrange delivered by this instrument is sure to keep your patrons listening with rapt attention. Mahogany on the neck helps compress the highs and absorb the string vibrations to deliver crisp tones.

Small Rosewood Fretboard

The small fretboard of the Kala KA-S Soprano Ukulele makes this instrument an ideal choice for both novices and established musicians alike. The fretboard is made from rosewood, which guarantees strength and durability. Owing to the porous texture of this tonewood, all the stray overtones are eliminated to deliver sounds rich in fundamentals. All in all, rosewood imparts a great deal of stability to the overall construction.

Saddle and Strings

The nut and saddle of this instrument are constructed from a special patented material called NuBone, created by GraphTech following 20 years of research and development. It offers well-defined highs and lows as well as a full midrange, which translates into excellent projection. This material renders seamless transfer of vibrations to the top of the instrument, thus enhancing its harmonic content. In addition, the compensated saddle helps in the accurate adjustment of the intonation of each string, thus improving playability. Next up, you have the Supernylgut strings from Aquila that not only add to the visual appeal of this instrument but also give you that extra edge over your contemporaries. This material offers a smooth feel and consequently a comfortable playing experience. Supernylgut has been designed to stand strong in high-intensity situations. Another advantage of Supernylgut is its ability to maintain the intonation in the face of humidity variations. In a nutshell, you obtain a deep and focused sound output.

Ease of Use

The Kala KA-S Soprano Ukulele is easy to tune, owing to the short-scale fretboard. The ukulele offers quick access to the frets and is therefore a fitting choice for individuals with small hands. Thus, it is time to fret away to glory with the Kala KA-S Soprano Ukulele.
